Here is a round-up of the Ely City Hockey Club games that took place at the weekend from the club's media officer Natalie Jones.
Ely Ladies First Team
Building on a draw against St Ives last weekend, Ely Ladies First Team triumphed against Cambridge South with a resounding 5-1 win.
Nat Jones, Amanda Baxter (2) Ellie John and Zara Gilbert added to the total. Player-of the -match went to Connie Anker for an excellent performance in the midfield.
The Ladies 1's next game is against Kettering on October 12.
Men's First Team
Kettering 1’s 2 - Ely City 1’s 2.
Ely Men's 1s travelled to Kettering, missing a few players this week but ready to continue their winning streak after an impressive 6-0 win against Wisbech the week before.
Goal scorers were Dan Martell and Reece Laffar.
Man-of-the-match went to Will King for his strong defence at the back, and strong counter attacking opportunities.
Ely City Ladies 2s
Ely welcomed back Emily Underwood for the weekend game against Newmarket. Goal scorers were Emily Underwood (2).
In the final three minutes, Newmarket were awarded a short corner and managed to sneak in a goal with just two minutes left on the clock. However, Ely held on to secure a 2-1 victory.
Player of the Match was shared by Codie Butcher and Sophia Langley.
Mens 2nd Team
Ely Men's second team played an early game against Peterborough at home.
With some skilful attack and a few opportunities on goal, Breunus Van Lutterveld scores an impressive deflection into the net in the 35th minute taking it to 3-0 to Ely at half-time.
The final result was 6-3 to Ely. Man-of-the-match went to Keane Savage for his impressive performance, scoring four goals in the game.
Ladies Third Team
The Ladies 3s took a trip to St Neots and fell short with a final score of 2-0. The team showcased strong defensive play, but struggled to convert scoring opportunities.
Mens Third Team
The Men's third team travelled to Peterborough for a late start and lost 6-0
