Gary Creak reports on Ely City 3-0 home win over Brantham Athletic on Saturday.
The Robins came into this match following a 2-0 defeat at Great Yarmouth.
This only seemed to fire the team on to get back to winning ways.
Ely, with some players missing for various reasons, started well and in the 17th minute a good cross into the box was met by striker Tom Stoker who made no mistake slotting home to give the Robins the lead.
The visitors were well in the game still and maybe got some decisions against them by the referee and probably felt a bit aggrieved as the half-time score was 1-0.
Into the second period, and on 50 minutes, Alex Kerr fired a low shot into the corner of Brantham's net to put Ely 2-0 up.
Things got worse in the 63rd minute as Brantham at the team's number four, Tom Lawson received a straight red card for a last man offence.
Aaron Hamer fired a beautiful free kick into the goal to put the Robins 3-0 up .
Towards the end, striker Jack Friend had two good chances, but the usually lethal Friend could not convert them so the game ended 3-0 to Ely.
A good solid team performance which puts us into fourth place with games in hand on two of the sides above us.
Next up it's Long Melford at home on Saturday (21st).
