Gary Creak reports on the Robins (Reserves) game against Great Shelford on Saturday.
The Reserves looked to keep their unbeaten start to the Cambridgeshire League Premier Division going on Saturday with a visit of the current champions Great Shelford.
Having won both their matches so far, and scoring nine goals, the Reserves were in confident mood.
Ely started brightly and on the 30-minute mark when Luke Mansfield put the Robins ahead after good work by Cameron Macullum.
Shelford equalised early into the second period with a nicely taken effort.
Shelford started to have a strong period in the game, but it was to be the Robins to regain the lead. The introduction of Dylan Ashman seemed to make a difference and he set up Cameron Macullum to sweep home from close range.
With the game nearing its end, a lay-off to a Shelford player allowed him to shoot low past Joe Murfitt in the city goal to level the match.
Luke Mansfield headed against the crossbar but it remained 2-2 at full time.
The first team's recent good form was not enough to stop unbeaten Great Yarmouth who gained the three points in a 2-0 victory at home.
