The Robins ended their 2023/24 campaign in fine style at the Demcom Stadium on Saturday in a game dedicated to club legend Vinnie Scarrow.
Vinnie, who is the club physiotherapist, has been involved with the club for 50 seasons. A presentation was made to him before Saturday's game.
He was presented with a framed shirt and a bottle of whiskey prior to the match to celebrate his dedication.
In Saturday's game, the Robins dominated the vast majority of the match which was against the Blue Imps of Brantham Athletic. Brantham won the reverse fixture 3-0.
The Robins took a fourth-minute lead as a corner ball came into the area and in-form striker Jack Friend slotted home.
Ely were in firm control but the visitors could have levelled but for the intervention of Joe Brannon who made a excellent last ditch tackle to save a probable equaliser.
The Robins continued to push forward, and it was to be Friend who scored, his 18th goal of the season as he turned on the edge of the box and fired into the bottom corner to double the Robins lead.
The game finished 2-0 at half time.
Ely continued to dominate in the second half, but despite several good chances during the half, they were unable to increase their advantage and the match ended 2-0.
Man-of-the-match was Jack Friend.
The Reserves also won 2-0 away to Hemmingfords Utd in a game that saw Louie Stokes and Luke Mansfield doing the damage for Ely.
