The robins excellent recent form continued on Friday evening with a fine 2-1 victory over Sheringham FC. This result was the first points the robins have gained over the team.
Ely were caught napping when the visitors burst through to take a three-minute lead courtesy of Ronnie Blois.
Ely then started to take over the match and in-form striker Jack Friend turned on the edge of the area and blasted an unstoppable volley into the visitor's net.
The visitors were lucky to keep 10 men on the pitch as it seemed their goalkeeper had handled the ball outside his area, but the referee decided not to take action.
The half-time score was 1-1.
Ely continued to dominate and took the lead after a great pass by Tm Stoker was met by the diving friend to head home!.
Sheringham did end the game with 10 men after Maca Holt was given a straight red card for a tackle on Jack Friend.
Another brilliant all-round team performance in front of 169 supporters. Three wins on the spin.
Ely City Reserves take on local rivals Witchford 96 on Tuesday evening at home 7.45pm. They then have the Cliff Bullen League Challenge Cup semi final at home to West Wratting on Saturday at 3pm.
