A strong ride from Tom Lewis ensured he would reign supreme for Ely & District Cycling Club – B&T Motor Repairs in the Eastern Cyclocross League.
Lewis overcame a host of technical challenges across a 2.3km course in the youth/under 16 category in the penultimate round at Milton Country Park on January 29.
The Ely cyclist recovered from a slow start to win the championship and beat rival Oliver Beale of Welwyn Wheelers, who was unable to finish the race due to a crash.
Kieran Vanhoutte finished eighth in the same race, while Harvey Woodroffe and Lucas Bowman came sixth and 13th in the under 14 category.
Neil Bowman beat Ely teammate John McAndrew by five seconds in the V50 race, claiming 17th spot.
In the V40 race, Ferenc Vanhoutte finished in 44th place, while Isaac Barton and Joshua Woodroffe competed in the junior and senior events.
Barton, affected by mechanical issues with his bike, crossed in seventh as Woodroffe, who succumbed to the nature of the course, came 37th in the hour-long event.
