A 14-year-old boxer who was crowned a national champion has got “a good future ahead” in the sport, his trainer believes.
Terry Mills of Haddenham and Ely Amateur Boxing Club prevailed over Teddy Bennett in the Amateur Boxing Alliance National Schools Championship 57kg final for boxers born in 2008.
Mills, who reached the semi-finals of the same tournament last year, was in control of the bout against Eltham ABC’s Bennett as he landed a series of combination punches including head and body shots.
“Terry boxed extremely well and dictated the fight,” said Mike Sawyer, Mills’ trainer.
“He would not give his opponent a chance and came out in a similar style to Tyler’s [Goodjohn, former club member].
“He’s got a good future ahead.”
Mills could feature in Haddenham and Ely ABC’s show on Saturday, March 25 at Witchford Sports and Social Club.
Junior, senior and skills bouts at different weight divisions are due to take place with amateur boxing clubs from across the country coming to Cambridgeshire.
Entry is £15; tickets can be purchased on the door.
