Soham Town Rangers will be hoping they can finally kick off 2023 with more success as they return to action this weekend.
Lloyd Groves’ side are due to visit Sheringham in the Eastern Counties Premier Division on January 28, 3pm, their first game in two weeks.
Groves will hope to make it a first win of the new calendar year having lost their previous three this month, most recently a 2-1 home loss against Mulbarton Wanderers.
But Soham will have to try and earn a fourth away win in their last six league trips without Sam Spencer, who has retired from playing, and forward Ollie Ward.
Ward, who is still registered with the Greens, is unlikely to feature again this season after agreeing to join the Royal Marines from next month.
Mark Goldsack, club chairman, said: “It’s sad to lose him; he’s a lively and talented young lad and we wish the very best for all he does.”
