A famous actor, author, comedian and television presenter is set to feature in a Cambridgeshire pantomime this Christmas.
Stephen Fry has provided the voice of the Giant in Viva Soham's production of Jack and the Beanstalk, which starts on December 1.
Dan Schumann DL, founder of Viva Arts and Community Group, said: “We are so grateful to Stephen for his generosity in voicing the giant, and for his support of community theatre.
“Having a household name supporting our productions adds that extra bit of sparkle.
“We extend our thanks to Michael Fenton-Stevens for contacting Stephen on Viva’s behalf and making this possible and arranging the recordings”.
Stephen Fry, a Queens College Cambridge Graduate, is a renowned English Actor, broadcaster, comedian, director, narrator and writer.
Stephen first came to prominence as one half of the comic double act Fry and Laurie.
He’s well known for playing the role of Lord Melchett in Black Adder and youngsters will recognise him as the voice behind all seven Harry Potter audio books and Paddington Bear novels.
He is known for his work in the theatre having adapted Me and My Girl for the West End receiving two Laurence Olivier Awards.
Mr Schumann added: "Viva’s third pantomime promises to be a giant of a show with a generous helping of silliness, songs a plenty, magic and audience participation.
"The Viva Arts & Community Group has been well-supported by celebrities from the theatrical world and thanks President Michael Fenton-Stevens for the introduction.
"Michael is no stranger to the world of pantomime, having written and starred as Dame Widow Twanky in the Camridge Arts Theatre’s pantomime version of Aladdin.
"Michael can currently be seen appearing as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the West End’s Wicked the Musical."
The theatre is also offering a relaxed performance on December 7, welcoming anyone requiring a less sensory version of the performance.
