A court heard today (November 14) that a man from Cambridgeshire arrived at the Houses of Parliament with "two samurai swords, asking to see Boris Johnson".

As reported by PA, Lewis Allington, 34, was arrested following the incident outside of the Houses of Parliament on November 12.

The man, who is from March, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (November 14), charged with two counts of possession of bladed articles.

Malachy Pakenham, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant travelled to London from Cambridgeshire, put on body armour and attended Parliament with the weapons, requesting to see the former Prime Minister.

Allington's defence lawyer, Norman Cho, told the District Judge Briony Clarke that the 34-year-old had "no intention" of harming anyone with the weapons.

The case has been sent to Southwark Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on December 12.

Allington has been granted bail on the condition that he remains at a Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Trust facility, following a recent mental health assessment in Hammersmith.

He is not allowed to enter London and the area within the M25.
