Rail travel between Ely and Cambridge is disrupted this afternoon (November 13) after reports of a person was sadly hit by a train.
In a post on X, the train operator Great Northern confirmed "with great sadness" that someone had been hit:
It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Cambridge and Ely. All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.

The travel provider has advised anyone travelling on trains between Ely and Cambridge to use an alternative mode of transport.
Tickets will be accepted on the below alternative services
- Greater Anglia - Between Ely to Peterborough and Cambridge to London
- East Midlands - Between Ely and Peterborough
- Cross Country -Between Ely and Peterborough London Underground - Between London Liverpool street
- London Terminals Stagecoach buses - Route 9 between Cambridge and Ely
