Littleport turned out in droves to honour its fallen in both world wars on Remembrance Day (Sunday November 10).
The roll call of the fallen, read out in the full to overflowing St George’s parish church, would have been familiar to anyone who takes time to look at the names inscribed on the 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 honours boards in the entrance hall to the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
The Remembrance event began with a parade mustered outside the club led off by Littleport Lantern bikers.
Littleport’s brass band was followed by civic dignitaries, representatives of the town’s many groups and organisations, and members of the 1st Littleport Scout Groups.
Crowds watched as the marchers passed through Main Street and proceeded to the church.
The service then continued outside at the war memorial, wreaths were laid and the Last Post played before being dismissed by Royal British Legion branch chief Martin Goodearl who reminded everyone that they were welcome to join.
