Yvonne Long writes her weekly round-up from community groups across Soham.

Soham Community Group

Members of The Monday Club met at The Causeway on October 21. They were served refreshments on arrival. 

The entertainment was John and Sue with a singalong and dancing. A vote-of-thanks was given and lunch was served.

Carol gave out the announcements and Peter Taylor, a voluntary driver, and volunteer Ann Cowling celebrated birthdays.

Next came the raffle with Carol and Ann Fleet. Refreshments were served once again before games of bingo were played with Rosie Drage and Jean Gammon. Prizes were donated by Andrew Fleet. 

Community Care Coffee morning

On the morning of October 19, people met with Roger Holliday and David Jaye in The Pavilion. Final arrangements were discussed for the outing to King's Lynn for Christmas shopping on November 5.

Everybody enjoyed meeting up with friends and catching up on the latest news. Roger organised the raffle. Coffee mornings take place on Tuesday mornings, from 9am till 11am.

Comrades Club Bingo

On the evening October 22, about 30people  got together in the club for an evening of bingo. During the break for refreshments, the raffle took place. If you enjoy a game of bingo, why not go along to the Comrades Club on a Tuesday evening, doors open at 7pm for eyes-down at 7.30pm.

Over 60s Club

Richard Badcock welcomed everyone to the meeting in The Pavilion on the afternoon of October 25. .Richard then handed over to Yvonne Long who had put together a quiz for the afternoon.

The winning team, with 51 points, was Roger Holliday. Everyone received a small prize for taking part. Yvonne was given a round of applause for organising the quiz. Birthday greetings were sung to Hazel Brocker and Roger. Pam Hall and Shirley Sizer served refreshments and Richard organised the raffle. The meeting closed with the singing of the club hymn.

Methodists News

On the afternoon of October 23, 13people met in the church hall where they enjoyed an excellent tea. During the afternoon, Wendy Beeton introduced her granddaughter who played the flute and also sang some popular songs,. She was given a round of applause.
