There was a packed house for an Ely author’s talk on local man who served in the SAS.
The history of the wartime feats of Reg Seekings drew a large audience at St Peter’s Church in Ely where author Tony Rushmer spoke about the highly-decorated SAS soldier.
Stuntney-educated Seekings and his brother Bob – along with Soham lad Eric Musk – served in the Special Air Service in the Second World War.
And around 140 people turned out to hear about some of the men’s exploits as Ely resident Rushmer spoke about his new book SAS Duty Before Glory, The True WWII Story of SAS Original Reg Seekings.
Rushmer gave insights into the trio’s gallantry during a well-received presentation and then answered questions from the floor before signing copies of his book.
In the throng were members of the Seekings and Musk families, including Major (ret’d) Kerry Seekings, son of Bob and nephew of Reg.
Mr Seekings, a former soldier in the Parachute Regiment, said: “The book has been a gift we never expected…a story that is now written and which will not be lost in the passage of time.”
Rushmer said: “It was a privilege to have the opportunity on ‘home soil’ to share stories about Reg, Bob and Eric. That there were members of the Seekings and Musk families in attendance made the night extra special for me.”
Signed first-edition copies of the book are available to buy at Toppings booksellers.
