Soham Community News
Members of The Monday Club met at The Causeway Centre on October 14 .Due to illness, attendance was a little depleted. The entertainment was singer Stuart Green.
Lunch was served, and Carol Sennett gave out the announcements and thanked Jean Johnson for donating cakes and also the volunteers for their contributions.
Everyone was thanked for donating the prizes for the raffle. Carol organised the raffle, assisted by Ann Fleet giving out the prizes. Refreshments were served once again followed by games of bingo with Claire White calling the numbers, assisted by Jean Gammon checking the books and giving out the prizes.
Community Care Coffee Morning
On the morning of October 15, Roger Holliday and David Jaye welcomed 19 people to the coffee morning in The Pavilion.
There was lots of chat while meeting up with friends and catching up on the latest news. An outing to King's Lynn for Christmas shopping has been organised for members and friends for November 5.
Roger organised the raffle of the prizes donated by the members during the morning. New members always welcome, from 9am to 11am every Tuesday.
Comrades Club Bingo
It was eyes-down once again for the 30-plus bingo players on the evening of October 15. During the break for refreshments, the raffle was organised. Everyone is welcome to these bingo evenings. Doors open at 7pm, for eyes-down at 7.30pm.
Over 60s Club
Ruth Ginn welcomed everyone to the Harvest meeting in The Pavilion on the afternoon of October 18.
The Rev Eleanor Whalley lead the meeting and also taking part were Pastor Colin Stringer who said prayers and also accompanied the singing of harvest hymns on the keyboard.
Pastor Colin also gave a Bible reading and Ruth and George Ginn read poems. The speaker was the new Methodist minister Laura Martin.
Prayers were offered by Rev Eleanor and finally the blessing was given by minister Laura. A collection was made and will be donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Ruth gave the vote-of-thanks. Pam Hall and Jenny Killick served refreshments. Richard Badcock organised the raffle and the meeting closed with the singing of the club hymn.
Soham Bowls Club
A very successful Bingo evening was held in the club room at the bowls club on October 18. It was very well attended. Richard Badcock welcomed everyone and was the caller for the evening. Marion Bysouth checked the books and Pat Bayes organised the prize money.
During the break for refreshments, Daphne Trinder organised the raffle. Richard thanked those who organised the evening and also everyone for their support. The next bingo evening at the club will be on November 22, doors open at 6.30pm for eyes-down at 7pm.
