What do flying saucers, Star Wars, Hogwarts and Indiana Jones have in common?
They will all be stars of the show at the Ely Brick Show’s Xmas Special on December 7.
Tickets have just gone on sale for the popular community event, which is being hosted by the Friends of the Lantern School for the first time.
Attractions include an awesome array of intricate Lego displays, traders galore selling brick themed goodies, a Santa’s Grotto and brick-based activities, including Robot Wars and 'spot the minifigure' as well as a Lego raffle!
The charity event coincides with the Lantern Primary School in Ely’s 20-year anniversary.
Headteacher Anthony Aguda said: “We’re really excited that the Lantern is able to offer this to our community.
“We all get excited about Lego.”
Duncan Bridges, one of the organisers of Ely Brick Show, added: “There will be lots of activities and competitions.
“Robot Wars is back and for the first time we’ve got a display of Peterborough United’s football stadium, the POSH.”
Proceeds from the show will go to Friends of the Lantern School (FOTLS) and the event will also support Ely Foodbank.
To make the event as enjoyable as possible, organisers are selling tickets for specific time slots - but once there, people can stay for as long as they like.
There will be a quiet hour from 4pm for people with additional needs or those who prefer a more relaxed environment.
FOTLS chair Meredith Hux Atkins said: “FOTLS is thrilled to be hosting the EBS for our community at the holidays.
“We have aimed to remain affordable and inclusive while providing a fun family day out with a little bit of something for everyone.”
She added: “We have created a 'quiet hour' for anyone with a need for a more low-key environment so that everyone has the best experience as we fundraise for a good cause.”
There will be refreshments on site as well as free parking.
The Ely Brick Show Xmas Special runs from 10am to 5pm on December 7 at the Lantern Primary School, Nene Road, Ely.
Tickets cost £3 in advance and £5 on the door, subject to availability.
