Yvonne Long brings her weekly round-up of news from around Soham.

Soham Community Group

Members of the Monday Club met at The Causeway Centre on September 16.

The entertainment was provided by the Breckland hand bell ringers, and a donation to the East Anglian Air Ambulance was given by the club. The vote-of-thanks was given.

Lunch was served birthday greetings was sung to volunteer Peter Wells. Carol gave out the announcement requesting donations for the stall at the Pumpkin Fair on September 30. Refreshments were served.

Games of bingo were played, the caller was Claire White, assisted by Jean Gammon giving out the prizes donated by Andrew Fleet. After another enjoyable day, the members were taken home by voluntary drivers.

Community Care Coffee Morning

David Jaye welcomed everyone to the coffee morning in The Pavilion on the morning of September 17.

The session is an ideal opportunity to meet up with friends and catch up with the latest news. David organised the raffle of prizes donated by the members. The club welcome more members. Tuesdays, from 9am to 11am.

Comrades Club Bingo

If you enjoy a game of bingo why not go along to the Comrades Club on a Tuesday evening doors, open at 7pm for eyes-down at 7.30pm. Refreshments and raffle. On the evening of September 17, 25 people enjoyed there games of bingo.

Over 60s Club

On September 17, a party from the club enjoyed a day out at Cromer. Time for a browse around before lunch and going on to see the end of the pier summer show.

On September 20, Ruth Ginn welcomed everyone to the meeting in The Pavilion. Ruth thanked Richard Badcock for arranging the outing to Cromer which everyone enjoyed.

Games of bingo were played with Richard calling the numbers, assisted by Yvonne Long, checking the books and Ruth giving out the prizes. Pam Hall served the refreshment and Richard organised the raffle.

The meeting closed with the singing of the club hymn. The entertainment on Friday (27) will be given by the Breckland Hand Bell Ringers.

Methodist News

The harvest festival in the Methodist Church will be held on Sunday, September 29. Produce to be left at the church from 9.30am.

The harvest supper is on Monday evening from 6pm to 9pm. There is a two-course meal. To book your place, please contact Lesley Watchorn on: 01353 721669.

Soham Bowls Club

Now the bowls season has come to a close, the bingo evenings will start again in the club room as from Friday, October 18. Doors open at 6.30pm for eyes-down at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.
