East Cambridgeshire District Council has made a decision on plans for 83 new homes in an East Cambridgeshire village.
In December 2023, applicant Long Term Limited submitted a planning application seeking 83 affordable homes with access, parking and landscaping to be built on Cambridge Road in Stretham.
On September 4, East Cambridgeshire District Council unanimously approved the "fantastic" plans for the homes at a Planning Committee Meeting.
Prior to the meeting, many written comments had been submitted to the council during the planning process in support of the application for the homes.
One comment read: "As someone living in social housing and looking to buy a house, this development could provide a much-needed opportunity for people like me."
Another said that the new development would be "fantastic" option for young families.
The 83 new homes will be an array of different types:
- Six one-bedroom and two two-bedroom flats under Social, Affordable or Intermediate rent
- 11 two-bedroom and 19 three-bedroom houses under Social, Affordable or Intermediate rent
- Four one-bedroom and two two-bedroom flats under Affordable Home Ownership
- 10 two-bedroom and 29 three-bedroom houses under Affordable Home Ownership
