An East Cambridgeshire drug dealer caught selling class A drugs just months after getting out of prison has been jailed for five years.

Tony Adams, of New Road, Littleport, was released from jail in January but, on the afternoon of Friday May 17, police spotted him driving a black Honda Civic in East Road, Cambridge.

The 33-year-old parked the Civic in the Grafton Centre car park, and the officers stopped him as he was walking to a probation meeting.

They searched him and found £985.20 in cash so he was arrested for possession of criminal property.

The officers also searched the Civic where they found 56 wraps of cocaine and crack cocaine, along with a knuckleduster, a set of scales, empty deal bags, three mobile phones and £225 in cash.

On Thursday August 15, at Cambridge Crown Court, Adams was jailed for five years, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession with intent to supply cocaine and crack cocaine, possession of an offensive weapon in public, possessing criminal property, three counts of having no insurance and two counts of disqualified driving. 

Adams was also banned from driving for five years and £1,235.20 of cash was forfeited which was donated to The Light Project, Peterborough. 

DC Charmaine Wood said: “Adams was only released from prison in January and clearly hadn’t learnt his lesson from his previous stays in custody.

“Drugs ruin the lives of everyone who comes into contact with them, so I am glad he is behind bars and away from the community where he causes so much harm.”
