Residents in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are being asked to share their views about how the bus service should be run in the future.

The Combined Authority has launched a public consultation that delves specifically into bus franchising.

It will be open until November 20, 2024.

Views can be submitted online, at a series of face-to-face events or by post.

They will be used to shape the reform of the bus system across the area.

Rob Bridge, the Combined Authority’s Chief Executive, said: “The start of our bus franchising consultation, which will help decide the future of buses in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, is a key step towards improving services for our local communities.

“The way our buses are currently operated is going to change so this consultation matters.

“We really want to hear from as many people and organisations as possible, so don’t miss out and make sure you have your say."

Access the consultation at https://shorturl.at/0sNFb where all relevant documents are available as well as a short or long version of a questionnaire.

Details of drop-in events at locations around the region will be listed on the site during the consultation.

Anyone can participate and share their views.

Families, students and older people who either rely on the bus or could benefit from the bus service in the future are being urged to take part.

Other public bodies, charities and employers are also invited to be part of the process.

The Combined Authority commissioned an independent transport consultant called ITP to analyse transport needs across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

It also provided a business case for bus reform.

Two approaches were identified in the assessment - a franchising solution and an enhanced partnership approach – and the consultation explains and compares both.
