A market-favourite coffee roasting company is set to host Ely's first ever coffee festival in September.

Silver Oak Coffee will hold the celebration of all things coffee at the Yard on Saturday and Sunday, September 7-8 in a bid to provide a "fun experience" for coffee enthusiasts.

Featuring a range of activities, including tastings and educational sessions, visitors will have a chance to explore the rich and varied world of coffee guided by industry experts and passionate artisans.

Across the weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to use a coffee wheel to highlight the different flavour notes of coffee grown at different farms.

'Have a Go' sessions will enable visitors to try the art of milk steaming and a competition on the Saturday will pit professional barristas against each other to earn the title of Best Cambridgeshire Barrista.

They will compete one on one, free style and also with alternative milks, sponsored by Glebe Farm, a local farm producing barista level alternative milks.

Visitors will also be able to purchase green beans and use a sample roaster to roast their very own product with the guidance of the Silver Oak Coffee's very own roasters.

Elsewhere local artisans and coffee focussed stalls will be on hand, offering demonstrations of coffee products, cakes and treats made with coffee, coffee art, coffee themed games and more will also be on hand.

The Yard Arms will be serving its usual drinks, including Espresso Martinis made with Silver Oak espresso and also a Coffee Stout produced in collaboration with the local Three Blind Mice Brewery.

The Backyard Kitchens will be serving up great food, including its signature Tiramisu.

The Silver Oak Coffee Fest will take place at the Yard, 35a Newnham Street, Ely, CB7 4PG.

The Yard backs onto a free car park, next to the Paradise Centre and is a ten minute walk from the train station.

The site is dog friendly, open air but with indoor seating, and is fully accessible.
