A free family-friendly event involving swimming, biking and running is set to take place at Waterbeach.

The event is organised by Urban&Civic in partnership with British Triathlon and Cambridge Sports Lake Trust.

It is scheduled for Saturday, August 10 from 10am – 11am.

The event will be held at Waterbeach lake and is open to anybody aged 6 and upwards, although children between the ages of 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Designed to take full advantage of the scenic Waterbeach lake area, the event offers a 100m swim, a 2km bike ride, and a 1.3km run.

The whole route is off-road.

The Swim, Bike, Run affair is an informal way to try triathlon sport.

Participants have the option to complete as many loops of the course as they like or choose to skip a segment.

Communications and partnerships manager for Urban&Civic, Fiona Reardon-Rose said: “We hope that the community will be inspired by the Olympics, and feel encouraged to come and try a new sport in the beautiful setting of Waterbeach.”
