Hundreds of children from Weatheralls Primary School in Soham showcased their artistic talents at a year-end exhibition, exploring styles of world-renowned artists and pivotal social issues.

More than 400 pupils, aged 3 to 11, exhibited an array of artwork including food sculptures, clay birds, and vibrant paintings inspired by Alberto Giacometti, Barbara Hepworth, and Wassily Kandinsky.

Year Three pupils delved into ancient Egyptian art, recreating symbols and motifs with fabric.

Year Four children produced Beowulf comic strips using charcoal and pencil, demonstrating their storytelling abilities.

Year Five pupils focused on three-dimensional art, creating beetle sculptures echoing Darrell Wakelam's style.

Year Six pupils addressed valuable social issues through thought-provoking collages.

The school community also collaborated on an inclusive art project exploring sensory drawing, and a seventies-themed fashion show.

Performed by the school choir, hit songs from the 1970s added a nostalgic soundtrack to the successful event.

The exhibition, the school's first such endeavour, underscored the significance of arts education in fostering creativity, expression and mental growth among pupils.
