A 92-year-old businesswoman still working in the skincare industry, the Chief Constable and a world-renowned composer are among the Cambridgeshire names featured in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2024.

The Cabinet Office has now published the list and there are 22 people from our county awarded for their contributions to society, their communities or their area of work.

They include innovative social entrepreneurs, pioneering scientists, passionate health workers, active community champions and dedicated volunteers who go the extra mile with their efforts.

Among the names is Evelyn Taylor OBE, the founder of the skincare company Eve Taylor, based in Peterborough.

The 92-year-old, who is still very involved in the business and goes into the office every day, has been awarded the DBE and will become a Dame.

She is receiving the honour for her services to business.

Meanwhile, Dr John Rutter, a world-renowned choral composer and conductor, from Huntingdon, is being awarded a knighthood in the form of the Knights Bachelor.

Nick Dean, the Chief Constable for Cambridgeshire Police, also made the King's Honours List 2024 and will be awarded the King’s Police Medal.

Karen Harvey, from Upwell, near Wisbech, will receive an MBE for helping people who have fallen on hard times access toiletries.

She began Toiletries Amnesty in 2014 for a homeless shelter in Cambridge, using spare, unwanted or unused toiletry products.

The project has now grown to providing over 800 charitable organisations in the UK and around the world.

In 2023, the organisation provided access to toiletries and hygiene essentials to 4m people and diverted hundreds of thousands of products from landfill.

An MBE is also being awarded to Keith Ridley, from St Neots, who serves as the National Chair of Royal Naval Association, for his voluntary work with veterans.

In East Cambridgeshire, Dr Belinda Clarke, from Soham, will receive the OBE for services to agri-technologies and farming for her work as director of the Agri-TechE network.

David Stazicker, from Mepal, has been listed for a BEM for services to his community.

The Cabinet Office says anyone can nominate someone for an honour.

If you know someone who has achieved fantastic things worthy of recognition, you can nominate them at https://www.gov.uk/honours.
