A 32-year-old ploughed through two garden fences and hit a lamppost while drink driving.
Callum Mcintosh was driving a black BMW when he drove into a lamppost and through two garden fences on Ely Road on March 23, just after 7.30am.
The residents called the police, and Mcintosh, who had been seen to climb out of the driver's window, claimed that he was a passenger in the car and the driver had run away.
The force watched the CCTV footage of the crash, which proved that Mcintosh had in fact been behind the wheel. He was later arrested.
He blew 88 at the roadside, which is more than double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath. He then gave an evidential reading of 62 while in custody.

PC Zara Oakley, who investigated, said: “Mcintosh left it until the last minute in court to admit that he was driving the car at the time.
