Yvonne Long provides a round-up of the community group news in Soham over the last week
Soham Community Group
On the morning of Monday, June 3, members of the Monday Club got together in The Causeway Centre.
It was nice to meet up again after a four-week break for some of the members after visits to Soham Lodge, a Huntingdon garden centre and the bank holiday.
The morning started with refreshments. The entertainment this time was a visit from a representative from Fenland Mobility.
After lunch, the draw was organised and prizes given out to the winners. Refreshments were once again served and this was followed by five games of bingo. The caller was Claire White assisted by Jean giving out the prizes, which had been donated by Andrew Fleet.
Community Care Coffee Morning
On Tuesday, June 4, 15 people met with Roger Holliday and David Jayne in The Pavilion. During the morning, Roger organised the raffle. Next Tuesday, members and friends of the group will be going on an outing, stopping at King's Lynn for coffee before going on to Hunstanton for lunch.
Comrades Club Bingo
Some 25 people met in the Comrades Club on the evening of June 3 for there regular evening of bingo. During the break for refreshments, the raffle was organised. New members always welcome. Doors open at 7pm for eyes-down at 7.30pm.
Over 60s Club
On the afternoon of Friday June 7, Ruth Ginn welcomed members to the meeting in The Pavilion.
Ruth introduced Steve from Lana Bags who had brought along a wide selection of handbags, scarves, trousers and colourful tops for members to peruse or purchase.
Refreshments were served, and Richard Badcock organised the raffle which included a handbag and scarf donated by Steve. The meeting closed with the singing of the club hymn.
Soham D-day Commemoration
On the morning of June 8, Maudie Manning and the Soham Singers attended the service on the Recreation Ground
Engage
These meetings take place in Soham Library every two months on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 25, from 2pm to 3.30pm and the speaker will be Kevin Boardman and his subject is: The Stuarts.
Methodists News
A coffee morning is to be held in the Church Hall on Friday, June 14, from 10am till midday. Stalls and homemade refreshments to enjoy with coffee or tea.
