Work to renovate Littleport Scout and Guide Hut has been given a £1,000 boost thanks to a donation from housebuilder Vistry Group.

The money will go towards refurbishing and updating the 30-year-old building, including installing loft insulation, repairing the roof, and improving disability access.

Littleport town councillor Jo Webber said: “There’s a number of groups including Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Squirrels and Guides, Brownies and Rainbows which use this building week in, week out and it really needs a bit of TLC."

Councillor Webber added that more than 150 children use the hut and improvements will provide them with a better experience.

The donations came from Vistry Group, a construction company currently developing new homes in Quantum Fields.

Commenting on the contribution, Ms Webber said: “It is great that Vistry has chosen to get involved in the community and to make this generous donation.

"Some of the children who move onto Quantum Fields will no doubt join one of these organisations and will themselves benefit directly from these renovations.”
