Here's how the City of Ely Council, Visit Ely and the Ely branch of the Royal British Legion will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day today (June 6).
Anna Bennett, tourism and town centre manager, said: "From 10.45am at Ely’s War Memorial, there will be a short service followed by the laying of wreaths for those that gave their lives for our freedom.
At 7.45pm, please join us at the beacon in St Mary’s Street for a short service. The beacon will be lit at 8pm.
The events team added: "This is a very special day in Ely and day to commemorate the heroism involved.
"Our evening event represents a beacon of light for the nation, during such a dark period of war. Please do support the organisers by attending."
