An Ely Standard columnist has been named as Littleport's Citizen of the Year for 2024.
Lyn Gibb de Swarte was presented with her certificate 'for services to Littleport' after a citation was read by councillor Joanne Webber.
Lyn responded with a speech, in which she thanked the town council for the honour.
She said: "Littleport is a wonderful place and steeped in history, especially ice skating.
“I am restarting the Littleport Skating Club and affiliating it to the Fen centre for all fen skating."
She also said she hoped that, with more publicity and the new council website, when telephone operators ask where you are from, and you say Littleport - and they reply "Liverpool?" it will soon be the other way round.
She added that, hopefully, it will be the same for the other way round and "when callers are asked where are you from and they reply "Liverpool" the same operators ask "did you say Littleport?"
