Report of the Ely Inner Wheel Club held on April 24 from Jennifer Wallace.
President Pauline Lancaster welcomed members to the April club meeting at St Mary’s Church Hall in Ely.
This is the new venue following closure of The Old Dispensary Ely.
Pauline was delighted to formally induct Gill Hodge and Sue Copping as club ,embers who were warmly welcomed by all present.
The speaker was Nora Gardner who is a city and cathedral guide and she spoke about her role as a guide at Oliver Cromwell’s House, where a wide range of costumed guided tours are available, including ghost tours.
Nora also mentioned the innovative introduction of The Visit Ely App available for visitors to download on the train travelling to Ely, and elsewhere in the city, where they can access comprehensive information about Ely tourist attractions.
President Pauline thanked Nora for presenting such an interesting insight into Ely tourism.
The club will be running a stall at Ely on Saturday, May 4, focussing on the Inner Wheel Centenary (1924-2024) and raising the profile of the Inner Wheel organisation.
The International Charity Evening is on Wednesday, May 22 and this is in aid of the charity ‘Literacy in a Box’ will take place at St Mary’s Church Hall.
