An Ely Air Cadet Warrant Officer has graduated from RAF Wittering, making him a Qualified Aerospace Instructor.
Jay Carter has also made history as Ely's first Qualified Aerospace Instructor Cadet (QAIC).
He graduated from RAF Wittering last week after taking part in a national course to become a QAIC.
Of the 43,000 Air Cadets that took part in the course, only 36 qualified - and Jay was one of them.
Jay can now instruct Air Cadets in every aspect of their aerospace and aviation studies.
Flight Lieutenant Donoghue, the Commanding Officer of Ely's Air Cadets Squadron, said: "The determination he has shown resulted in Jay being awarded a rare double flying scholarship to train to become a solo pilot in both powered aircraft and gliders.
"Jay has been supported wholeheartedly in his pursuit of becoming a pilot by his family and by his Squadron.
"Cadet Warrant Officer Carter is the first QAI in our Squadron's history.
"We are confident that after he leaves us in October of this year, we will see him succeed in his career ambition to fly for a living as an airline pilot."
