Artists and creatives – many of whom are inspired by the Fens – will be showcasing their work at a spring fayre this Sunday (April 14).

A storyteller from Ely, a mosaic artist from Peterborough and mixed media sculptors from Chatteris are among the artists showcasing their works.

In total, 21 exhibitors have signed up to attend the Spring Artisan Fayre at Upwell Hall, in Upwell, near Wisbech.

The event will be open between 10am and 4pm. Entry is free.

All profits from the event will be donated to the mental health charity MIND.

Many of the exhibitors will also be demonstrating how they create their artwork throughout the day.

Visitors will be able to take part in workshops which are being arranged in sugarcraft and mosaic making.

Booking in advance is recommended for the workshops and for the Indian head massages on offer.

There will also be a storytelling demonstration with Tales from the Fens, based in Ely.

Lizzie Ault will share how Fenland folklore has inspired her work with the help of storyteller Marianne Powell.

The Spring Artisan Fayre is being organised and sponsored by the couple behind the Blended Monkey art studios in Upwell.

Louise Taggart is a ceramicist and her husband Simon, a woodturner, also hold various workshops in their specialisms.

Louise said: “We’re sponsoring the Spring Artisan Fayre to showcase some of the amazing local Fenland and East Anglia artists, creators and makers.

She added: “We spend a lot of our time offering creative therapy workshops to people who are suffering with poor mental health, recovering from brain trauma, or who generally need to get away from the pressures of everyday life and immerse themselves in something creative and relaxing.

“So through Sunday’s event, we also want to raise funds from MIND which is such a worthy charity.

“We hope you can join us.”
