Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are set to have their own Local Nature Recovery Strategy which will aim to prioritise nature recovery in the area.

To kick-start the new initiative, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough residents are being invited to take part in surveys about nature where they live.

People can share their views, insights, knowledge and aspirations about nature in their area, as well as talk abut what they love about the natural environment, where they go to enjoy nature, and why nature is important to them.

There are two surveys for people to fill out, one for local individuals and one for representatives of local community/special interest groups.

Natural Cambridgeshire, a nature organisation in the county, has been asked by Cambridgeshire County Council to support the creation of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The scheme is set to help repair and recover nature in the county, and make both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough full of nature for people to enjoy.

Director of Natural Cambridgeshire Pamela Abbott, said:
"Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is one of the most nature-depleted areas in England and it’s critical that we shape nature recovery in the county.

"Through these surveys, local people can help us understand in greater depth the important local habitats and wildlife that need to be treasured and conserved, and identify where we can increase biodiversity and create landscapes more resilient against climate change and other environmental pressures.”
