Haddenham Parish Council and pupils from Robert Arkenstall Primary School have launched the 2024 road safety campaign in the East Cambridgeshire village, 'Slower is Safer'.
The 2024 launch is a continuation of the work carried out by Haddenham Parish Council and Robert Arkenstall Primary School pupils in 2023.
The 'Slower is Safer' campaign promotes road safety, and encourages heavy goods vehicle drivers to reduce their use of village roads in Haddenham.
A 'Lorry Watch' took place in the village in 2023, and some central village roads became 20mph zones.
Station Road and Hop Row both became 20mph zones, and since then, traffic speed has reduced drastically.
When Station Road was a 30mph zone, only 46 per cent of traffic would drive at 30mph or below.
Now the road is a 20mph zone, 78 per cent of traffic drive at 30mph or below.
Likewise for Hop Row, when it was a 30mph zone, 84 per cent of traffic drove at 30mph or below.
Now, 88 per cent of traffic drive at 30mph or below in the 20mph zone, while 65 per cent drive at 25mph or below.

40 Haddenham residents, including six school pupils, Cambridgeshire County Council and East Cambridgeshire District councillors and hauliers, attended the 'Slower is Safer' 2024 campaign launch on January 31.
The Year Six pupils from Robert Arkenstall Primary School, who are all members of the Road Safety Squad, put on a presentation for guests at the campaign launch.
Hettie, Joseph, Charlotte, Holly, Leila and Emily all thanked parents, councillors, local businesses and farmers for acknowledging their campaign.
A spokesperson for Haddenham Parish Council said:
"This initiative is a great example of collaborative working between three different council entities, local businesses, school children, parents and villagers with a shared aim to make our roads safer for all."
