A charity gala dinner is being held in Ely next month to raise money for an NHS worker who has recently been diagnosed with incurable stage four cancer.
The black tie event will take place at The Maltings in aid of Lauren Bowers-Broadly, and the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event has been organised by Holly Wilson, who works at The Royal Standard pub.
She said: "The reason for the event is my friend Lauren, a 33-year-old mum and nurse, has been diagnosed with stage 4 incurable cancer.
"So I want to raise money for MacMillan and Lauren, to help her fight this horrible condition any way she can.
"This cause is very personal to me as my husband was diagnosed with mouth cancer and Macmillan helped my family deal with the ordeal and, now, he is well again."

With the help of her colleagues at the pub, Holly invited businesses and supporters from all over the country and media to contribute.
This includes items for the auction as well as donations and musical support for the event.
The charity gala dinner takes place from 6pm on February 29 and tickets cost £100 per person.
The price will include a three-course meal with wine and refreshments.
There will also be a raffle and live music as well as a charity auction hosted by David Palmer with prizes including:
- VIP tickets to a recording of Would I Lie to You including a meet and greet with Lee Mack
- afternoon tea at the Ritz alongside a night in the Gainsborough South Kensington
- the Ultimate Newmarket Experience with stud tour and a night’s stay at The Jockey Club
-
UB40 meet and greet show tickets and signed record.
In addition to the evening’s fundraising activities, the event is getting local support in the form of sponsorship from companies such as Cambridge Commodities, G’s Fresh, Grovemere, The Royal Standard, Accent Fresh, The Prince Albert and Ely Construction.
