Ely & District Cycling Club competed in round 11 of the Eastern Cross League at Haughley Park, Stow Scamble.
After a frosty week, with light overnight rain, Haughley Park hosted round 11 of the Eastern Cross League, delivering a spectacular showcase of cycling prowess.
The challenging course, artfully designed with forested terrain, grass featuring adverse cambers, a sand pit, and “Davey’s doubles,” proved to be the ultimate test for the Ely riders.
Youth Race Triumphs
The Youth Race witnessed stellar performances, with Kieran Vanhoutte showcasing remarkable progress throughout the race, securing an impressive sixth position in the U16 category.
Harvey Woodroffe, resilient after overcoming illness, claimed victory on the road Saturday and sealed a solid third position in the U14 category.
Lucas Bowman put in a strong race battling throughout to finish 10th place in the U14 group.

• Kieran Vanhoutte: 6th U16 Boy
Vet 50’s and Vet 40-49
The Vet 50’s category witnessed a dynamic field, with Neil Bowman maintaining an impressive run of form, securing the 13th position.
In the Vet 40-49 class, Simon Pedley delivered his standout performance of the season, finishing strong and claiming the 17th spot.
Senior/Junior Race
The course now marked by the challenges of earlier races, the senior/junior race unfolded.
Battling throughout the race and strong finishes saw Isaac and Josh come home in very respectable places.
