Ely Councillor Richard Morgan shares his Christmas message
My fellow citizens, Christmas is a time of hope – the baby born in Bethlehem came to redeem mankind.
During this year, as your mayor 2022-23, I cut the ribbon to open new homes at the Willow Woods Development on Lynn Road, visited the sensory garden created by St John’s Ambulance Cadets on Abbots Way.
I also signed the Armed Forces Covenant; promoted ‘Etheldreda’s World’ – a new biography by Dr Charles Moseley, welcomed HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, to Harry Specter’s Chocolate Company.
I also attended the wonderful Eel Day, and King Charles III’s first Garden Party at Buckingham Palace!
My fellow city councillors and I continue to endeavour to make life that little bit better for our parishioners.
What we can do is to live out our lives as best we can with purpose, and with love, and with joy.
And we can strive, at all costs, to make a better world, so that, someday, if we are blessed with the chance to look back on our time here, we know that we spent it well.
That we made a difference; that our fleeting presence had a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
