Ely - report by 1094 Ely Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets
City of Ely Remembrance Sunday Parade 2023
On a fine crisp November morning, the 1094 Ely Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets gathered with representative groups from Veterans Associations, The United States Air Force, the Army Cadets, Scouts, Cubs, Guides and Brownies to remember the fallen and all those who have sacrificed in defence of freedom.
The Squadron was led this year by adjutant Pilot Officer Russellcook RAFAC standing in for Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Donoghue who had to sit this one out on the sidelines due to an injury.
The cadets did themselves and their families proud and represented the light blue of The Royal Air Force Air Cadets to the very highest of standards.
Ely - report by Kerry Kilby
Next generation poppy collectors also helped with the poppy collection in Ely market on Saturday afternoon. My son wore the beret of his dad who served in the Irish Guards.
Their grandparents often help with the poppy collections with their Jeep but were not able to this year. However, both children asked to help collect money for the poppy remembrance collection.
Lily House, Ely
Sgt Tom Cross aged 95, who served in The Royal Welsh Regiment, laid a wreath on behalf of the residents and staff of Lily House when a service was held at the home on November 9 in the Remembrance Garden.
Tom was accompanied by chairman David Martin and standard bearer Tom Brown, from the Ely Branch of The Royal British legion.
Tom said it was "important that we keep holding Remembrance services so people don't forget".
Littleport - report by Lyn Gibb de Swarte
Littleport Remembrance parade marched through the village to St George’s Church for the service.
It continued to the war memorial for the wreath-laying by all the organisations and groups plus the town council.
Well-wishers galore flanked the parade as they marched and lined the streets.
It seemed the whole citizenry who were able of Littleport turned out for the occasion.
Last photo is all who followed the parade and assembled en-route file into the church.
Witchford - report by Beth Lane
A Remembrance Service was held at the 115 Squadron Memorial on Lancaster Way Business Park, formerly RAF Witchford Airfield.
