A new Subway franchise has revealed plans to open in Ely, and could become the first branch of the sandwich fast food chain in the city.
The company has set out plans to open a new restaurant at Ely Leisure Village, off Downham Road.
Plans have been submitted to East Cambridgeshire District Council asking for permission to install the Subway advertising signs for the new shop.
The application sets out the chain’s plans to open in the unit between the existing Pizza Hut restaurant and the Costa café in the leisure village to the north of the city.
A proposed opening date for the new Subway has not been set out in the plans submitted to the district council.
The advertising application for the Subway signs was received by the district council last week (October 31) and is still awaiting approval for the signs to be installed.
