Tickets are now on sale for Ely's annual fireworks event at Cherry Hill which this year will take place on November 4.
The Ely Community Events Team ( ECET ) gathered this week (September 26) to annouce the details and hand over a cheque to Magpas.
The sales launch took place at Ely Tourist Information Centre and included Ely mayor Cllr Chris Phillips.
"We were delighted that our mayor was able to present Magpas with a cheque for £2,500, from the proceeds of last year’s Ely Fireworks," said Michael Judkins from ECET.
"In fact, the huge success of that event has enabled two of our highest ever donations, a further £2,500 having been handed over to Arthur Rank Hospice, and our committee is extremely proud to have substantially benefited two organisations who do so much good work in Cambridgeshire and elsewhere in East Anglia.
Following last year’s record breaking event, another spectacular occasion is in store for 2023, featuring a display from the Crazy Fireworks team set against the backdrop of Ely Cathedral.
There will also be fairground rides, food and drink stalls, and many other attractions at the event which starts at 5pm. There will also be a scouts' barbecue and other hot food outlets.
The evening will, as always, include a guy competition. Both primary schools, and youth groups for those aged under-11, are invited to enter guys, with a £100 cash prize for the winner, and £25 donated to every organisation which enters. The group's Facebook page has more details.
"The event will this year again be sponsored by Cambridge Commodities Limited. We are extremely grateful for their valued support," added Mr Judkins.
