A child who is "thriving despite what life has thrown at him" won the Jay Davison Bravery Award at the 2023 Ely Hero Awards.
After developing sepsis and meningits at just eight-weeks-old, Teddy Woodhouse was left with brain damage and a profound hearing loss which means he is now deaf.
He has a hearing aid and his family are learning sign language so they can communicate.
The judges said: "Teddy is an absolute delight despite what life has thrown at him.
"Reduced mobility has not held Teddy back. He is quick at spinning himself around on the floor and chasing his mum around the family home in his walker.
"His loving family home helps Teddy to thrive, and his family are very proud of raising £2,500 for Meningitis Now."

The award was set up in 2020 in memory of inspirational eight-year-old Jay, who passed away after fighting medulloblastoma – a form of cancerous brain tumours – for just over three years.
In 2018, Jay had won the Ely Hero Award’s Child of Achievement trophy.
