A businessman with a "heart of gold" was crowned the 'Most Amazing Professional' at the 2023 Ely Hero Awards.
Daniel Lawrence of Daniel Lawrence Plumbing and Heating took home the award, having previously been a finalist.
After winning, he said: "Thank you so much to the wonderful people who nominated us again this year/
"Thank you to absolutely every single customer who has helped us achieve what we wanted - and that’s to be able to give back to the community.
"And a huge well done and a massive thank you to the team for just being amazing every day, and of course to Meg for putting up with my stress head on a daily basis."
The judges said: "Daniel is the face of the amazing business that is Daniel Lawrence Plumbing and Heating.
"Daniel has received multiple nominations and has been a previous Ely Hero Awards Finalist.
"Daniel’s nominators talk about his 'heart of gold' - keen to be a successful businessman with customers and core values at its heart.
"Daniel regularly supports local individuals who are facing tough times, he is a keen supporter of grass root sports clubs and helping the less fortunate.
"With a serious health issue of his own, Daniel continues to build his business without complaint, mentoring his staff and providing a service that is above and beyond."
The other finalists in this category were: Ashley Moodliar of Ely Carpentry and Construction, and Bogdana Ostrowska-Kubik, Ukrainian Resettlement Officer.
The judges said of all the finalists in the category: “This category showcases the very best of professionals right here in our community who support and inspire others, not just because they are in paid employment.
"An incredibly tough year to judge with so many wonderful nominations.
"The finalists with us tonight really do have hearts of gold - heroes to so many, putting others before themselves in a professional setting.”
