A man has been arrested following the discovery of a cannabis factory in Wicken.
Officers from the East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team were in North Street, Wicken, today executing a drugs warrant when they uncovered approximately 120 cannabis plants with a street value of up to £80,000.
A 28-year-old man, Albert Dakaj, was found at the property and arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
Dakjaj, of no fixed address, has been charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electriccity without authority. He is due to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court today (September 7).
Sergeant Mat Lupton-Pike, from the East Cambs Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This warrant underscores our commitment to tackling drug-related crime in our community, reinforcing the message that illegal drug cultivation will not be tolerated in East Cambridgeshire.
“Drug trafficking remains a highly profitable endeavour for organised criminal groups, many of which are involved in various forms of serious criminal activities, including modern-day slavery.
“We urge residents to remain vigilant for signs of illegal cannabis factories, such as blacked out windows, unusual smells, and frequent visitors at irregular hours.”
