Soham Town Rangers are through to the next round of the FA Vase following a dominant 4-1 victory away at Eaton Socon Football Club over the weekend.
However, the Rangers' struggles in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division continued on Tuesday (August 29) with a fifth loss out of six following a 4-1 defeat to Mildenhall Town.
In the FA Vase fixture, first-half goals from Ryan Sharman, Ed Watson and Byron Adiado had put Soham into a commanding 3-0 lead before the break.
Substitute Sam Mulready made it 4-0 just as Eaton Socon began to take more of a hold in Soham's half.
Eaton Socon then forced a couple of fine saves from George Whitehall before beating him with a late consolation goal during a game in which the visitors ran out comfortable winners.

Three days later, Soham travelled to Mildenhall but quickly found themselves two goals down from breakaways, one courtesy of ex-Soham captain Jon Jaye.
Soham pushed for a goal in the second half and were looking bright throughout when Ryan Sharman headed home a second goal in two games to make it 2-1.
As Soham pushed for a second, Mildenhall punished them on the break, awarded a penalty to make it 3-1 before a stunning finish at the death added a fourth.
However, Soham can take positives from the defeat and will look to get back to winning ways away to Sheringham on Saturday, September 2.
