Police in Ely are urging drivers to make the most of the city’s free car parks after they spotted a vehicle parked on double yellow lines.
Officers from the East Cambs Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were out on their mobile patrols in the Ely area when they came across a vehicle parked illegally on Newnham Street.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “We made attempts to locate the owner of the vehicle to ask them to move it, but were left with no other alternative than to issue a ticket.”
They added: “The cost of living is bad enough without a £30 fixed penalty for parking.
“There are several car parks in Ely that do not charge a fee for parking, so use them and save yourself some money.”
