With three long holiday weekends, it’s an even merrier month of May than usual for Littleport.
But, as usual, residents of all ages can participate in a range of enjoyable activities on every day of its 31.
Littleport Leisure has a daily programme of sessions including 50-plus fitness, stretch and tone, junior tennis (five to nine-year-olds) and pilates, step aerobics, line dancing, walking football, junior gym classes, yoga, and weights. And that’s just one of Littleport’s regular social and sociable events.
Recently appointed Littleport Town Council’s youth worker, Joanne Coe founded ThePort youth group eight years ago. They meet Wednesdays 4.15-5.30pm term-time at the new Youth and Community Centre in Cornfield Lane where she hosts the community hub in the morning for parents and carers 9am to 12noon.
Kathryn Buck is a professional singer and leader of the Littleport Community Choir. Kathryn is also the council’s link worker for older people. On the fourth Thursday of every month, so May 25, at Littleport village hall from 2-4pm, £3, refreshments, board games and raffle. For more events, Kathryn@littleporttowncouncil.gov.uk
Karen Booth is another multi-talented Littleport personality. Not only the hairdressing proprietor of a Littleport salon, Bizzy Lizzie, she is the organiser of fortnightly coffee mornings at Anchor Court community hall for Anchor residents. She is joined in this voluntary endeavour by Cheryl Jordan, Cheryl Holland and Marcia Palmer.
Karen is also The Littleport Players director, and they’re auditioning performers aged 14 and over soon for this year’s panto, Alice in Wonderland! Email the producer: rebekahsmith2021@outlook.com
Whatever your age, if you love a bit of glitz and glamour, this Saturday night at the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club it’s the sequin and flares wearing group All Glammed Up from 8.30pm.
And on Friday night, 7-9pm, it’s bingo at the Crown Inn.
