The owner of The Tackle Shop, in Ely, says he is determined to make his business work after admitting the shop has struggled over the past year.
Ken Shipp shared a post onto his Facebook page on Friday (May 5) and it has almost gone viral, with more than 2,000 people getting behind him and understanding what his shop is currently facing.
He admits times are hard, but wants to make it work, and has just taken on two new members of staff in high hopes.
In the post, it reads: “It’s time to get real…and I need your help.
“It’s not a secret that the shop has struggled over the past year. I have been open, honest and humble about that.
“We are in a great location on Fore Hill, we have all the stock you could possibly want, and I like to think I’m pretty approachable - I love to help; fishing is my passion, so we should be thriving!”
The post continued: “But times are hard. Businesses are struggling because no one has any money. That is impacting on people’s home lives and their livelihoods.
“However I want to make this work so here goes nothing. From next week, the shop is back to full time hours, I’ve stocked the shelves with everything you could need (including all our new hunting goods), and I’ve taken on two new fantastic members of staff who I will introduce over the weekend.
“So guys please like, share and comment on my posts. Visit the shop. Tell your fishing and hunting friends about us. And please support me to make this work. Last chance saloon…”
