New jobs are being created in Cambridgeshire after the East of England Co-op announced it is launching two stores in the county this summer.
The East of England Co-op has donated more than £1 million to good causes in East Anglia over the last three years.
The first store to open will be in Waterbeach, with another at the new One Cambridge Square development at Cambridge North Station in Chesterton set to open later in the year.
With more than 120 food stores across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex, the East of England Co-operative is independent of the Co-op Group and other regional co-operatives but run with the same co-operative principles.
Chief executive officer at East of England Co-op, Doug Field, said: “We’re excited to get to know the local community in the areas surrounding our new stores in Waterbeach and Chesterton.
“We’re embarking on an ambitious plan to grow our Food business, and the opening of our first Cambridgeshire Food stores will mark an important milestone in our expansion."
