A tennis club aims to continue making the sport available to all as part of a workshop.
Ely Tennis Club hosted a disability awareness training workshop, run by the charity Bright Ideas for Tennis.
So far, many people have already been attending the workshops, which aim to help the club make tennis available for all in Ely and surrounding areas, whatever their abilities and disabilities.
Rachel Peacock, chair of Ely Tennis Club, said: "Ely Tennis Club is delighted to have collaborated with Bright Ideas for Tennis to deliver this workshop.
“It’s another success in our club’s continuing mission to make tennis available to all in Ely, and the surrounding community.”
The workshop was attended by coaches and club volunteers as well as representatives from the Cambridgeshire LTA and other tennis clubs in the county.
They were given tips and training on how to adapt the game to various disabilities.
Weekly sessions of walking tennis are held at The Hive sports centre in Ely, and Ely Tennis Club is planning outreach sessions for pupils at Highfield Ely Academy after Easter.
Each weekly session ends with tea and cake at the tennis clubhouse, and anyone that would like to try playing the game is invited to contact the club.
Danny Sapsford, of Bright Ideas for Tennis, said: “It was a fantastic to see the workshop so well attended, and we hope to offer more workshops with Ely Tennis Club.”
Ely Tennis Club was formed in 1989 and is a community-based not-for-profit organisation.
They usually play at the Ely Outdoor Sports Association complex at Ely Leisure Village on Downham Road.
New members are welcome to attend.
