A man from Littleport has been jailed after being caught drink-driving for a second time.
Paul Thompson, 38, was driving a Renault Clio, in Longfield Road, Littleport, when he caught the eye of an officer at about 11.30am on February 27.
He was pulled over as he was showing as having no insurance, but the officer realised Thompson smelt of alcohol and spotted a vodka bottle in his car.
Thompson confessed he had been disqualified from driving after being convicted of drink-driving two years ago.
He blew 85 micrograms in 100 ml of breath - more than twice the legal limit of 35mg – and was arrested and taken to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday March 20, Thompson, of Sandys Crescent, Littleport, pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving while disqualified, no insurance and failure to answer to court/police bail.
He was jailed for six weeks and disqualified from driving for 40 months.
PC Scott Giles, from the Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT), said: "Thompson endangered the lives of other road users and, although no one was hurt, it could have easily been a different story."
